Several of his books were major motion pictures including the five times Academy Award nominated Voyage of the Damned. Enola Gay won the Emmy Awards Foreign Critics Prize. Experience received the Jury's and Critics Prize at the Monte Carlo Film Festival. Gideon's Spies, now published in 54 countries, became a Channel-4 major documentary which he wrote and narrated. He also edits Globe-Intel.net and writes on intelligence for the Sunday Express (UK); El Mundo (Spain); Bild (Germany); The Daily Telegraph (Australia). He is a regular broadcaster for the BBC and US networks. During the Iraqi War, he provided daily commentary for TV3 (Ireland). His speciality subject is the secret world of intelligence.

In October 2003, he lectured at the International Conference of Anti-Terrorism in Colombia. His professional audience of intelligence officers from 34 countries included CIA, MI5, FBI and MI6 senior directors. He lectured for 90 minutes and then had a two-hour question and answer session. He was the only lecturer invited who was not a member of the intelligence community. Previously he lectured in 2003 at the AFP Conference in Washington to an audience drawn from the Pentagon and other US agencies. He has lectured for the British Council in Germany and also to the National Press Club in Sydney, Australia.
