Charles Spencer was the only brother of Diana, Princess of Wales. His speech at Diana's funeral was judged one of the 14 best of the 20th century by The Guardian.

Educated at Eton College, and Magdalen College, Oxford, Charles worked as a reporter for NBC News's TODAY Show, from 1986 until 1991, and again from 1993 to 1995. He also worked for NBC's Nightly News, Sunday TODAY, and NBC Super Channel. He worked in 30 countries during his NBC years.

He now writes for "The Guardian" and "The Independent on Sunday" as a book reviewer.

He has also written: features for The Daily Telegraph, The Guardian, The Sunday Telegraph, and "Veranda" magazine (United States); travel features for the Mail on Sunday; historical book reviews for the Mail on Sunday, Daily Express, and "You" magazine; diaries for The Spectator.

Recent speaking engagmeents have included the British Tourist Authority, in New York; and to Equitable Life (of the USA), to their top employees, in London. Also, twice to the Young Presidents Organisation. At Althorp, he has spoken to many companies: including, a dozen times, to BT's top staff and clients. Other speaking engagements have taken him to locations all over the world: South Africa, United States, Japan, Canada, etc.

Charles owns Althorp, in Northamptonshire, one of the UK's finest country houses. He has fully restored and refurbished the house and grounds since inheriting in 1992.
